Valentine Teabag Shortbread Cookies – Great Cheap Bakery Party Treat To Do Ideas

  • ½ cup + 1 tablespoon butter
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 1/2 cup milk or dark chocolate
  • Heart confetti candy for garnish
  • Pink cotton string & Valentine tag for decor [optional]

  1. Combine the butter and sugar in a medium bowl. Mix until creamy. Add in the flour and mix it all together. It is easiest to mix with your hands.
  2. Take about half of the mixture and roll it into a ball. Place the ball on your floured surface and use your rolling pin to flatten the dough to about ½ inch thick. Cut with your cookie cutter. Repeat until you have cut out all of your cookies. Alternatively, you can cut into rectangles, similar to a more traditional English shortbread cookie.
  3. Place your cookies on a baking sheet and refrigerate for 20 minutes. At this time, preheat your oven to 375 degrees F.
  4. Once the cookies are refrigerated, bake them in the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they are light golden brown.
  5. Let cool on a baking sheet. Once cooled, melt chocolate in a double boiler. Dip the bottom of the cookies into the chocolate.
  6. Garnish with heart candy. Allow the cookies to dry on wax paper. Tie a Valentine tag to cookies with pink cotton string & serve or put into a glass jar as a Valentine gift for him!
